Looking back

I created Rejected over two afternoons when I saw the My First Game Jam was live. I hadn't planned on making the game, but I had thought about making a game for years. I was new to puzzlescript, and didn't know how to code, but I wanted to try. I'm bad at puzzle games, so I have tried to make puzzle games that I can enjoy. At the time of writing this I have released 6 puzzlescript games and have a few WIPs (as well as games made in other engines).

Each game I have made starts with a basic idea: what kind of puzzles can I make?  What if the player moves like 'this' or has 'those' limitations?

For Rejected I wanted to see what I could make in a few hours, from not knowing the language, to sketching out a game. And while the code is held together with tape and glue, I like the ideas I started to make. Even though the character feels awkward to move. The puzzles weren't iterated on much, they came together rather quickly. I thought about introducing a fourth star to subsequent levels (I left that code in) but felt like the game was done. I didn't want it to overstay its welcome. I felt that other ideas could be incorporated into a sequel of sorts.

Having played through the game again I enjoy it. It has many faults. I can see several things which I could change to make it more in line with what I am making now, but I think it has a charm. My lack of knowledge with scripting is certainly an issue here, but the premise is interesting to me.
