Looking back

Written 16th March:

Another attempt to mix up the mechanics for the player. I feel this is my least successful so far in a few ways. But I'm glad I made this. I have tried to learn something with each game. Whether that is new ways to code, new ways to design levels, or new ways to bring ideas together. Here I wanted to try a movement limitation and give the player a couple options to figure out how to solve the problem.

Some of these puzzles went through several iterations, but mostly stayed the same.

By the end of the game I had several ideas about how the move set could have been different, how the puzzles could have been redesigned, but I didn't try these out. I felt like the game worked as I wanted, any other ideas could go into a different game, maybe a sort of sequel.

Written 12th April:

Earlier versions of the game had simpler graphics, I changed them to try and more easily convey to the player what each part did. The puzzles are straight-forward.

This game was released 3 days after my first and 2 days after my second. I try to release each game as a sketch of the idea. I don't want to polish them too much, but I feel this could have been worked on some more to make it more interesting.

The text between levels was added near the end of the project as my play-tester felt the game wasn't clear enough. I now believe several other alterations should have been made.

I enjoyed playing with the different possibilities for the horizontal and vertical movement. Even when the game turns out in a less-than-ideal way it still was an exercise in trying out new movement and mechanics.
